Hitachi Astemo Americas

In 2020, Hitachi Automotive Electric Motor Systems announced plans to develop and produce electric vehicle motors at Berea, Ky., plant, resulting in a $96-million-dollar investment. Based in Japan, Hitachi Astemo Americas, Inc. manufactures and markets engine management, electric powertrain and integrated vehicle controls for major automotive manufacturers worldwide. Hitachi’s Berea, Ky., plant supplies motors and brake and suspension components for the automotive industry. Hitachi’s Harrodsburg, Ky., facilities include manufacturing and warehousing.

Nemak

Nemak is a leading provider of innovative lightweighting solutions for the global automotive industry, specializing in the development and manufacturing of aluminum components for e-mobility, structure & chassis, and powertrain applications. In 2021, Nemak announced a $27 million expansion of its operation in Glasgow, Ky., to support future electric vehicle-related business. Nemak generated 2022 revenue of $4.7 billion.

INFAC North America

Established in 2008 in Campbellsville, Ky., INFAC North America specializes in control cables, which are supplied to a number of automotive manufacturers, including Hyundai, Kia, GM and Chrysler. The South Korea-based company makes a range of components for global auto manufacturers.

Martinrea Heavy Stamping

Martinrea International Inc. is a leader in the production of quality steel and aluminum metal parts, assemblies and modules, as well as fluid management systems focused primarily on the automotive sector. The company has two Kentucky plants, including Martinrea Heavy Stamping in Shelbyville, Ky. Based in Ontario, Canada, Martinrea is on the Automotive News list of the top 100 global suppliers.
